At the beginning of the year, I joked about nick-naming James Ihedigbo IMPETIGO, after a skin disease that is getting harder to cure, recently. I was interested in him because he is a local boy to me. He is a graduate of Amherst Regional High, (Mass) and he went to UMASS. Both of his parents got their Phd’s from UMASS. Also, I like his spirited play on special teams.

Last week he played really well-sprung Brad Smith on a block that took out two people on the kickoff return for a TD, and he alertly recovered a fumble that nicked a Bengal. He did get nailed for a BS roughing the passer call… He does have two sacks this year.

My bet is that he will be in the game for a considerable increase in snaps on Monday. I know, he has about 2% of Jim Leonhard’s experience, but his coverage actually has been pretty good according to Pro Football Focus.

Well here’s hoping that a little IMPETIGO goes a long way in Foxboro.
